Book Tag
I feel rather like a proud parent. I can still hear the words very clearly… Rosanne would never knit, and never blog. Now, she does both, rather well I might add. So, it tickles me to no end that she’s gone from checking my blog once in a while just because she’s that kind of friend, to reconnecting with her inner crocheter, to taking up knitting, then blogging, and now, she’s tagged me!!
For the book tag, here are the rules:
Pick a book at least 123 pages long.
Open that book to page 123.
Find the fifth sentence and post the next three.
Then tag five other people to do the same.
Leigh stared hard at the screen as the pictures changed, her teeth gritted, her fists curled tight, taking on as much as she could.
“I don’t want this.”
The words emerged, clear and distinct, from the front pew.
One week ago, almost to the minute, I met Ms. Moriarty. I’ve just started the book, and Rosanne and anyone else to whom I gave last year’s book (we have a book/author fundraiser every spring) knows why I was slow to get around to reading this one. To say I didn’t care for The Glass Castle would be an understatement, and this one seemed to have a similar theme. However, TGC was a memoir, and TROHL is fiction, pure fiction, and knowing Ms. Moriarty’s intent, I expect to appreciate this book much more.
Both books approach lives wrought with pain and struggle, but at least with Ms. Moriarty’s book, I believe that in the end, I’ll be able to empathize with Leigh. Stay tuned. I’ll let you know.
I normally don’t tag, but I do believe I’ll call out names this time.
Devon, Ruth, Alana, Amanda and Natalie are all reading friends, and I am curious to hear what they’re reading. By all means though, if I didn’t tag you and you wish I had, jump right in and leave a comment so I can see what you’re reading too!

Chan, You are the sweetest. I love reading your blog and the pictures of Sissy had me laughing out loud. I did stop by Mary’s and indeed it is so sad. Two beautiful friends at once is too much. Give Sissy a scratch for me and Oliver sends a big woof.
Off to play along….
That’s great that she tagged you.
So I just wanted to say I’m not really actively reading a book right now. I’m listening to Anne of Avonlea on my ipod but otherwise my “bathroom” book is Mary Higgins Clark’s I heard that song before. I don’t normally read her books but my sister handed me one a while ago and I read it in four days over summer.
I’ve been reading this one for about 6 months…Like I said it’s the “bathroom” book so it really doesn’t get read that much.
Sorry if this TMI…you asked. hehehehe
Hey, I can read too! I read your blog every day!
I am currently in a JD Robb (Nora Roberts)book… I’ll post about it tomorrow.
Perhaps I influenced you too much about The Glass Castle? The fact that I thought her dysfunctional parents needed professional help instead of praise and that she probably wrote the book as part of her own very badly needed therapy couldn’t possibly have had anything to do with swaying your opinion, now could it?
That’s so weird how close this Book Tag was to this week’s Booking Through Thursday. I just used the closest book… was I supposed to use the book I’m reading? Ooops… I can’t because it’s an unpublished proof from a large company. I think if I leaked any material I’d get shot, or sued.
hmmm… i really enjoyed the glass castle. but then maybe i was just thankful that they weren’t my family!
