I was dreaming of my ideal knitting bag, elusive as it was, a while back. Lacey and I chatted some, and she sent me some pattern links, and the rest is history. Bless her heart, she even ironed on vinyl for me on the outside, and I hear that was no fun at all. That front pocket is big enough for even an oversized magazine or book.
The side pockets will be perfect for any sized water bottle, or whatever else I might cram in there.
I picked the main fabric, and mentioned the interior fabric as my second choice, but left the coordinating fabrics to Lacey. I’m delighted! It’s a happy summer bag, but not so tropical that I can’t carry it year-round. I was going to measure it last night, but I never got around to it. It’s very large… I’ll be curious to compare it to Rosanne’s Vera Bradley Baby Bag, size-wise.
That’s a general shot of the interior. It’s a great aqua/brown/white print. On the bottom of the photo, you also get a glimpse of the third fabric, which is also featured on the bottom band on the outside, and the top velcro closure. Three very happy fabrics! I’m so glad I left the final selections to the expert.
There’s a shot of the two generous interior pockets, from the inside of one pocket. Plenty of room for notion bags and even purse stuff. Since I use bags for my projects and keep a small notions kit in whatever big tote I’m using, I didn’t feel the need for a host of inside pockets.

On the outside “pattern pocket”, Lacey put one of my favorite quotes, from the inspiring Eleanor Roosevelt. Thanks Lacey! I love it.
Thanks to Ruth, I now know that June is National Iced Tea Month. So while you’re feeling all patriotic and getting ready for the 4th of July picnics and such, don’t forget the drink America invented. How do you like your iced tea?
Next, swing by and wish Nichole a happy blogiversary. We all love pretty stitch markers, and for each of you donating $15 or more THROUGH NIC’S LINK to the ASPCA, she’ll send out one of her great markers.
Last of all, I thought I’d toss in a couple of photos of The Moth ON me.
(I had no idea this shirt looks so awful from the back. Dang.)
MJ took these for me, and this one is rather blurry, but it still gives you an idea of how it fits. It’s a great little summer shoulder shawl, but it will also take up no space at all as a neck scarf in the winter. I can assure you that just in the few moments it took to get these shots, my shoulders were warm, but without any bulk at all.
Maybe this evening, I’ll snap a photo or two of the Motif sock. It’s moving right along. There’s a baby blanket I need to start; I wish one of you with startitis would send it my way! Hmmm… I have a pretty bag big enough to hold it now… Maybe THAT will motivate me to cast on!

I love that bag – the colors are simply fabulous! You could hold a small child or furry animal in there, it’s that big!
Not to be outshone, the moth is beautiful too. You have been so busy – where do you find the time and can I have some of it? !
I am envious of your fabulous new bag. What a great job Lacey did! btw..did I tell you LadyB has a new home and will be well loved there?
Ff that’s not available, a plain iced tea, squeeze of lemon, drop in the wedge or slice, unsweetened or a pinch of sugar or splenda.
I’ve told you how I like my iced tea…mixed with crystal lite lemonade!
Moth is beautiful lace, so light and airy! I need some more knitting time too. I nearly cried when I messed up koolhaas and had to frog it.
The bag is gorgeous!!! And I love how delicate the Moth turned out.
The bag is GREAT!! So is the Moth. I’m trying to catch up with all the posts that have been up since I’ve been busy.
Hope you are well.

That is a very cool bag. I myself am still on the search for the perfect knitting bag as well. I love my Namaste, but it’s getting really worn out.
That shawl is beautiful!!!
Lacey, told me the bag was finished. So, I have been waiting to see it. My sister definately has the gift of putting materials together. I know I don’t. Her skills of sewing are far greater than mine, it just isn’t my interest.
Oh, Chan – the Moth looks awesome! That is a versatile pattern – I can think of a few different ways I would wear that. You can really wear with anything, too!

The Moth looks beautiful! I’d like to try a lace project soon, too.
I’ll be interested to see your bag. Maybe you can bring it to the RCK meeting.
That shawl pattern really does look like a moth.
