Sigh of RELIEF!

I’m going to tell you now not to fret if I post very sporadically for the rest of the month.  It’s just all kinds of League crazy-busy between now and then, so please know I’m fine… just swamped.

We did have a too close for comfort nature experience yesterday.  Well…  *I* did; my big  hunters were looking the other way thankfully, because we got within about 20 feet of an adult skunk, just strolling along the entrance to our walking trail!  Thankfully, both girls do well with directional commands – the Knight has long made fun of me for teaching the dogs left, right, forward – and they are used to being told we aren’t going down our wooded path.  As we rounded the curve continuing up the road, I looked back to see the skunk trotting on in the direction we just came from.

WHEW.

I couldn’t find an image that matched the skunk I saw.  It was totally black, with just a shot of white at the top of its neck.  Given that the boy-dogs had a run-in with a skunk at the front porch one spring, I was ever so grateful that the girls were highly obedient and the skunk wasn’t startled by our mere presence.

Was your weekend eventful?

Glad that you were able to avoid the fragrant forest walker!

I had a great weekend – a road trip with three knitting friends.

Nope not all! So glad you missed Pepe La Pew! They sure are pretty though, aren’t they? g

Tell the Knight that DH was very impressed with your use of specific directions with the furgirls. He frequently tries it with our two pups…esp. the command you once gave in his presence to Gg (wrapped leash around a chair, if I remember correctly) to “problem solve.” So far…no luck with Jake and Abby.

Had afternoon tea in an historic tavern in Annapolis on Saturday with a couple of British friends. Very nice.

Glad you missed that one!! Wow….I spent the weekend sick..but I am hoping I’m on the mend…..finally!

How can anything so cute be so awful? Our weekend was busy but not “skunk” eventful!! Macy and Max did catch a feral black cat in our back yard and had a good chase before I could convince them to come in, but that was about it for the excitement. The rest of the weekend was work, work, work, and more of the same today. Tomorrow–I’m free!!!

Oh my, glad the girls didn’t notice, esp your little huntress there! Cute pic of the boys – Mugsy look a little ashamed. 🙂 Had a great weekend with the family… ending with a nice Apple orchard visit for cider & cider donuts yesterday.

It’s always a good day when you can avoid a skunk.

NO worries, post when you wish and dont’ make it a must do for us.
Little skunk pests have been winding a nightly trail through our yard….thankfully the cats watch from up high on the porch…..and we have no close encounters…
They are lovely things though, from afar really

  10. Weekend was busy, though not exciting. Walking in town can be a bit boring, but maybe that beats the excitement you all might have had!

  11. Do you know that is one thing I have never seen in the wild? I hear about people having run ins with them all the time, but I’m going to say that’s probably not a bad thing. 😉
