Today is Tomorrow

Or, today is the day the sun came out.  You know…  “The sun’ll come out tomorrow…”?

Almost completely healed!!!Gretchen was bitten on January 21.   Things were pretty scary for about a week, especially when I had to leave her for emergency, wound-cleaning surgery.  Granted, my background is in human emergency medicine, but I know what infection and skin decay can mean.

That tiny dark spot just about center of the photo?  That’s all that’s left of her once almost flank-length incision.  (You can see that wound here.)

Even Saturday, when the stitches came out and the hole remained, I was upset, but dogs heal faster than humans as a general rule, and so here we are, in a MUCH, MUCH better place.

E-collarDon’t tell the vets, but the Knight voted and wee one is cone-less, with Sissy again today, finally.  Both dogs were tired of being separated, and Gg hasn’t bothered what’s left of the wound in a couple of days.

They had a big outing yesterday, going to the firehouse for a visit.  Gg made a new friend, and I wish I had made a video for you.  A cute little toddler in a PANK tee and my  little girl in her pink sweater (shown here) and PANK 4′ leash were a cute pair, especially when the little human was “howding her”.  Gg wasn’t sure about being away from me, but she cooperated, twice.  Then,  both girls hung out in the gym with me while I ran on the elliptical.  Again, I wish I had gotten a photo of Sis checking out the Stair Master – the kind with the real steps that roll, escalator style.  I do believe if I’d turned it on, she would have walked with me, but I wasn’t interested in encouraging behavior that could land us back at the after-hours vet!

Thanks to all for the support and for caring about me and my fur-babies.  I hope the sun is shining for you today too!

No sun shine here, yet, but it is trying to clear the clouds. Snow predicted in two days.

Glad all is well in your castle, Lady Chan. Give the fur girls a belly rub or an extra treat for me today.

I’ll say it’s a sunny day in your home. Her wound is healing beautifully. It’s amazing after what she went thru that it looks so good at this point. Good job Nurse Mom and Nurse Sissy.

It could be a good day here if the At&T installer knows what he’s doing, but that remains to be seen. I’m glad Rob’s home today to deal with it. I’ll play outside with the dogs till it’s done.

Nope cloudy here, but I feel much better after hearing how well Gretchen is doing! Bravo to Mark for making tough decisions. Sometimes you just have to decide for yourself what is the right thing to do! The last couple weeks seem to have been wild for a lot of people! It had me wondering if we were having a permanent full moon.

I did not know dogs heal faster. I’m so glad she did.

It’s wonderful that the girls got out to socialize. Toddlers and dogs are always cute together, and moreso when they’re wearing matching outfits. I’m so glad Gretchen is now able to get back with her beloved sissy; I’m sure both girls were upset at the forced separation!

  12. The sun is just starting to think about coming out here…it wetted on us this morning…sadly, not enough precipitation to call rain. Happy days for Gg’s continued recovery! So glad it is NEARLY the weekend.
