Yes, we are!

Yep.  I know it’s supposed to rain virtually the whole time we’ll be at the beach, but we’re happy to be going, just the same.  I’ve said for years that a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work.  I’m packing extra towels – mostly for Sissy, who doesn’t own a raincoat yet – and hats, and we’re going to have a good time.

We’re going to rest, read, sleep, knit, watch House Season 4 DVDs, walk on the beach, eat lots of seafood and probably catch up with some friends and family down there.  The Knight will do more of the sleeping, and I will be doing all the knitting, but we’ll still hear/see the waves crashing on the shore, and it will be warm enough to scrunch my toes in the sand most days.

I’ll blog when I can.  Keep your fingers crossed that the weather hasn’t knocked out the wireless connection.  If I remember my card reader, there will even be photos.

Am I the last to discover the Twilight series, by Stephenie Meyer?  No, I won’t be reading it at the beach, but it will be at home waiting on me.  (Michelle!  I got the whole series with bonus points from a book club membership I keep meaning to cancel.)  It’s not my usual genre, but neither was Nora Roberts, and I’m enjoying her too.  I just like to read, period.  Generally, I prefer the stuff many of you were all but forced to read in literature classes, that and historical biographies, but these days, I need something less demanding of the two braincells I have on duty at any given time.

Knitting.  I lack one repeat (two rows) from finishing the body of my Blue Heaven sweater.  I hope to knock that out tonight, and start on a sleeve.  Then, most likely, before y’all head to work, school or whatever on Monday, I’ll have finished my first top down sweater!  I’m also tossing my travel sock aside in favor of the Chevron Scarf.  (Ravelry links, one and all.)  However, I plan to focus on Fredfoot for the bulk of this trip.  It will be one year on October 5th, and I want the shawl done by then.  I’ll take one more project with me, just in case I really do have some serious knitting mojo going on, but I don’t know what just yet.

What about you?  What do you have planned for the weekend and the upcoming week?

Even Gustav didn’t stop the 1000’s that bombarded us on Labor Day Weekend. The Twilight Series looks good, however I should finish the 2nd book of Harry Potter 1st. I am so behind the times. Have a great trip, you so deserve a peaceful time.

I’ve never seen House – I’ll have to check that out as my sister is a big fan too.

Have fun! Rainy days at the beach are just as good, in my opinion. 🙂 I’m like you…as long as I can hear the waves.

We’ll be doing the birthday thing this weekend. The boy is really excited and it sounds like several of his buddies from school will be there. 🙂
