Coffee Swap Topic #2

With Halloween coming up this Friday, tell us what you think of when you think Halloween! Do you love it? Hate it? See it as a sign of Fall? Are you a total sucker for candy and little kids in cute costumes?

Oh, here you get some insight into fickle me.  My knee-jerk reaction is that I hate Halloween.  I live far enough off a country road that with no lights on, even the kiddos we do know don’t stop in.  I didn’t enjoy trick-or-treating as a kid either, but I didn’t mind a party, and I loved bobbing for apples.

However, I simply cannot resist shoving my dogs into costumes.

Literally.  That’s MJ and Pop shoving Mugsy into his devil costume last year.  Fred never would tolerate my nonsense, but Mugsy was a reluctant but tolerant participant.  (Don’t be surprised to see Gretchen in that costume next year!)  I’m hoping to get some photos tonight so I can share what my girls will be wearing this year…

And who needs a special excuse to always have candy on hand?

Poor Mugsy! You were horrible to him! Just joking – he obviously tollerated it. My guys won’t wear clothes – they think it’s stupid and have told me so. g

  2. Sue says:

We don’t do Halloween. As a kid I didn’t like it and that hasn’t really changed. Now Christmas, that’s a different story. We decorate the house and the dogs.

Since we have moved we don’t hand out candy anymore, we are upstairs and it gets crazy going up and down, so even though the pumpkin is in the window everyother night, Halloween it is shut out, no one home. BUT I do buy candy and went out to get our selection today! I was in Walmart anyway so what the hay!

I can’t wait to see what Sissy & Gretchen look like in their costumes 😀

You’re playing better at this swap than me…

Great shot of Pop & Mugs!

My hubby bought a Costco bag of bars and we’ve been so good and not opened it–because we know if we did, we’d both eat the darn thing.

wow! you get overwhelmed at work for a few days and when you get back to blog reading, you discover that sissy has a sister!!! congrats to all of you, although if gretchen is smart, she may try very hard to avoid the hallowe’en costuming next year…

There is something very twisted about dressing up animals in costumes… 🙂

We’ve lived in our house for 8 years and not one T or T’er. We take the kids to mom and dad’s, hope on dad’s tractor and trailer, and drive around their neighborhood to go score candy. To me, that’s the best way to T or T.

Oh, the look on his face is so funny. It’s like he’s saying “Can you people just get this over with already?”

  10. Robin in VA says:

I LOVE Halloween, it brings out the kid in me!

  11. Anita says:

LOL, sweet Mugsy, he loved you so much. 🙂
That’s such a great photo, I remember it from last year…..

  12. Kathy says:

Oh poor Gretchen and dressing up. She appears to be the kind of pup who would jump at the chance to wear a costume:).
I don’t particularly like Halloween. But I love Fall:)

  13. The Men and I are in complete agreement about this one thing: No dressing up the dogs! As to Halloween, I’d rather be at a Harvest themed party than deal with rudeness and gouhlies and such.

  14. Alison says:

Halloween is always a tricky one for us. We try to find an alternative such as a light party or something else, but I love the pumpkins.

  15. Oh, i am SO with you! I cannot resist shoving my dogs into costumes, either! Henry has a Superman, and Fred has a Spiderman. And we made a bigger cape for Henry, and i swear, he loves it! They zip through the house with their customes on.
