Iced In

Sissys 1st - and only - snow, January 2008

Sissy's 1st - and only - snow, January 2008

I wish I had cute photos of the girls romping in the snow I was promised this morning, but mostly we’ve gotten sleet and freezing rain.  Gretchen prances out in her PANK (hot pink) coat, and Sissy just takes it all in stride, but I really wanted to play in the snow with them today.

So, we’ll do a little housekeeping.  My mosaic yesterday came from Big Huge Labs, also known as fd’s Flickr Toys, so any of you can make your own.

Now, to get to that housekeeping…  The Knight is working today, so it only seems fair that I do something productive today.  I’m sure there will be a nap, some knitting and more reading, but there’s also plenty to do around the house.

What do – or would you do – with a snow day?

I too am shut in today. Although not because of snow but because of the anticipation of ice. However I am logged on to my work computer so I can’t really enjoy this time. My girls love it though. Bluebonnet is sleeping in our warm bed and Clementine is playing happily by herself in the living room.

I would love a snow day. As soon as I hit publish you’ll be getting an award 🙂 Have a fun day at home with the girls. g

I must admit…I would love a snow day and I would spend it finish up Breaking Dawn!!

  4. Sue J. says:

I love snowy days because they make me want to knit, knit, knit. It’s -20 here now, so Milo and I are huddled under a blanket on the couch. The good news is the sun is shining. Warm up is on the way.

snow would be a luxury and a break right about now… -38 this morning. will i ever be warm again? can’t i have a “too cold to go out” day? on the bright side, it is supposed to snow tomorrow, which means that it has to get warmer first – yay to snow!!!

I’m wishing I were at home right now. The weather forecast called for snow starting tonight, well after the evening rush hour. Instead, the dreaded white stuff started while I was on my way to work, and it hasn’t stopped. Grrrrr. How can they be so wrong? I’m hoping to leave early and go home to my babies, fire up the pellet stove, and knit, knit, knit. Has your knitting mojo returned? Just the thought of housecleaning brings my knitting mojo back every time!

I wouldn’t do school with Jimmy…we’d play in it for awhile….then he would go to the computer and I would knit/crochet…watch a movie and maybe play some games together. Whatever you do have a great day! hugs

We got ice, not snow. Bummer. Even the dogs hate it. I posted my newest cross stitch, let me know what you think.

I curl up with hot tea and my knitting. Wait…that’s not very different than any other day here. lol Seriously, when it gets really cold outside, my body tries to hibernate. I nap a lot during the winter. Today, the sun is shining, it’s rather warm, and I’m as perky as can be (with a head cold). lol

The kids have a snow day from school. So far they have played in the snow, eaten hot cereal for lunch and watched a fav movie of mine from the 80’s. Labyrinth with David Bowie. Now the fighting will soon begin.
    I have cleaned the bathroom.
    That is something.

  11. Anita says:

Sorry you aren’t getting snow!! Ice sucks. Hope you are having a good day with the girls anyway!!

I’d sleep late, which is just what I did today! 🙂

  12. Robin in VA says:

No snow day here, but if I’d had one I would have stayed on the couch with Rudy…knitting!

  13. Amanda says:

On a snow day (if I’m lucky enough to be home) – I love to watch movies, drink coffee, knit, and of couse play with the kiddo outside.

On a snow day at work (like tomorrow will be) – we usually handle the rash of phone calls from patients canceling their appts, then turn up the tunes and get tons of paperwork done.

    Either way, it’s all good.

  14. Would a snow day for me mean that my students couldn’t get to me? 🙂 I’d light a fire in stove, start the kettle, and knit, read, and blog-hop to my heart’s content. As to the snow, I’d really enjoy looking at it from the window!

  15. Kathy says:

We have a snow day and we’re anticipating another one tomorrow. The daughter was home from school. Unfortunately I had to be productive too. What is up with all that guilt?
I’d much rather drink coffee/tea and knit/read than do all that productive stuff but such is life:)
Mr. Bettis reports he loves the snow and has a lot of fun romping and running in it. He occasionally sits outside and allows the snow to fall ever so gently on his nose:).

  16. km says:

We’ve never had a snow day. And unless we move, we probably won’t. But, when it was really cold…I’d light a fire in the fire place…grab all the pillows and some blankets…and the kids and I would read by the fireplace.

Adorable picture!! Just so you know I nominated you for the same award that my mom did! Go check it out! 🙂

I love the new look. I am thinking of going to wordpress or typepad. Was it easy? You have much more snow than we do, and we are having a snow day today. I found you through Darcy btw.:]

  19. hahaha, oh wait…you were serious. Hmm, well…since every day since Thanksgiving has been a snow day for me, i usually wake up, log onto my school account, and study for a while, and at some point i strap on either my skis or my snowshoes, and take the houndies out. Sometimes the roads are clear, and i head to the grocery store for supplies. And i watch way too much tv, but it does not count if you are KNITTING while watching, right???
