Fur-Girls Update

Thanks for all the good wishes for me.  I’m in good shape now.  It was just a little rude, but almost routine procedure for me, but boy is Gretchie in for a shock in the morning!  I heard it said that she’s getting spayed tomorrow.

Thanks, Sissy.  I’ll fill in the details now.  Sissy had another anal gland issue.  They were expressed, she felt better instantly, but long-term care had to be discussed.  Clearly, just feeding her Wellness CORE isn’t working.  So, she’ll get a teaspoon of Benefiber mixed in her canned food daily, and I’m supposed to get her to eat canned pumpkin.  Riiiight.  We tried that before, way back with the first gland issue.  She won’t eat plain, canned pumpkin.  So, I’m to make her pumpkin puree, with a slosh of milk…

And yes, Gretchen’s spay surgery has been moved up nine days, partially so she can be healed and ready for her first trip to the beach, but most importantly, because I’m seeing signs that her horomones are raging.  We really have the best vets, techs, and office staff willing to go the extra mile!

What Sissy doesn’t know is that all the water will be picked up when Dadaw goes to bed, and she won’t get fed until Gretchen and I head out in the morning.  Then, she’ll have a quiet day alone, and then I’ll have my hands full when Gretchen and I come home.  Sissy was groggy as all get-out after her surgery, but I’m sure she’s going to be worried about Gretchen and want to check on her constantly.

I still need to show you much more knitterly goodness.  My cocoa swap package arrived today, and was a great pick-me-up after an afternoon at the vet, complete with two dogs getting car sick on the way home.

There’s a quick group photo, and I’ll share details later.  Thank you, Darcy, for an awesome package and great timing.

Now, to convince the fur-girls to wind down for the night…

So glad Sissy is better. But now its going to be poor Gretchen. Wow, our vet keeps them over night after a spay to watch them. They’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.

    Great package…lots of great goodies!

  5. Darcy Watts says:

Awww you have alot on your plate I will be sending healing thoughts and prayers your way for both the girls(((((Sissy & Gretchen)))) Iam so glad you liked your package and that it brightened your day:) I took a bath and ate some of the soup hubby made and updated my blog to reflect that. Iam feeling much improved:)I love pumpkin pie with tons of coolwhip I dont suppose Sissy could have hers that way;)Hugs Darcy

My guys don’t like pumpkin either, but they do like sweet potatoes which are supposed to have the same benefits. With Morgan we get something called Laxatone which was originally for hairballs in cats. Just a dab on a dog biscuit and Morgan has never had to go back for that humiliating procedure.

    Good luck with the pumpkin!

I love the mug that Darcy got you. We have them here for Vancouver! What city is that? (I can’t remember what city Darcy is in). And yumyum you’ll have to go into more details about alllll those goodies!

Hmm I can just imagine Mouse’s expression if I tried to feed her pumpkin too. Good luck with that one. Love all your goodies.

  9. KSee says:

Glad all is well and the day is one for rest & healing. The girls sure are a beautiful pair of sisters.

ooooh lookie! Darcy did a great job… healing thoughts for both Sissy and Gretch today… sure to be a stressful one for you I’m sure… dip some of those pirouettes into your coffee this morning for a minty pick me up/soother! Love the sheepy!

  11. Natalie says:

Good luck Gretch! We’ll be thinking of you today!

  12. Dianne says:

I’m glad Sissy is doing so much better. Now she will be able to “help” you nurse poor little Gretchen. It’s hard to believe she is old enough to have raging hormones. It seems like just last week that you brought her home… Where does the time go?

  13. sonya says:

Wow, what a great swap package!

I hope the procedure goes well and her recovery is swift.

Have you asked the vet and/or tried the yam treats I told you about? I’m sure you could do the same thing with pumpkin – but I think the added cornmeal was an issue, right?

Okay – so glad to hear the girls are okay. Hope today is good for you. Glad to hear you have the beach scheduled. I should have a small, crappy envelope in the mail to you today. Happy Tuesday (does it become Little Monday when your Monday was like it was?) g

  15. I guess your little baby is growing up? I hope she bounces right back ( not literal bouncing) from the spay, and that Sissy doesn’t worry too much. (or you and the Knight for that matter)

  16. Sue J. says:

Wow! The girls are really having a time of it. Milo and I will pray for anal glands and successful surgery. Poor babies!! Give them a big smooch!

  17. Amanda says:

Glad to read that the girls are okay. Nice swap package!
