I’m Two

That is, my blog is two years old today.  Happy blogiversary to me!  More importantly, thank you to each of you, especially the daily readers.  For a knitting blog, there’s not been a lot of knitting content of late, but such is life.  Ebb and flow…

We’ll get to the contest in a moment.  Right now, we have to have a little brag book type moment.  Due to all changes at the station, there’s a new Assistant Chief.  Some call him Bubba, but since here in our little bloggy world we already have a Bubba (our dear friend and chief of another fire station across the county), we’ll call the new Asst. Chief Big Bubba, since he’s older than the other Bubba.

Because Big Bubba was a battalion chief, there was a vacancy to fill.  Our needs a good nickname pal (he’s been mentioned many times before, but I can’t find a particular post right now) moved up, despite being at the Darius Rucker concert, which I held against him, but clearly, the majority of our membership isn’t as petty as I am.  I think in a stroke of vindictiveness, I shall knight him CP – for Cherry Pie.  He doesn’t read my blog, and if you’ll remind me, I’ll explain why CP some other day when I need blog fodder.

My favorite photo of nephew, with yours truly

So, with CP moving up, we needed to elect another captain.  My nephew won that race, and just in case I choose to fuss  brag   talk about him in the future, he shall be simply Nephew.  (And in case he reads, remember your uncle’s words to you at the end of the meeting!)

Congrats to Big Bubba, CP and Nephew.  Remember who you are and what you represent.

Now, back to bloggy stuff.  I haven’t done a contest in forever and a day, so this one isn’t too stressful.   Just follow the rules and you’ll be entered for a chance to win some goodies, yet to be determined.

  1. Do *NOT* post your answer to #2 in your comment.  I reply to all comments with a valid email address, so once I reply, you’ll have my email to send me your answer.  Breaking this rule will disqualify you, and your comment will be deleted.
  2. Can you see Sissy in the photo below?  If so, I’ll want details when I reply…
  3. What kinds of things do you most enjoy about my blog?  Be specific.  Are you here for knitting content?  Do you stop by just on Thursdays (or other days) looking for the fur-girls?
  4. What causes you to just skim a post, here or on any blog?

It’s that simple.

Oh, I hope you can see the photo whether you see Sissy or not!!

Oh, I hope you can see the photo whether you see Sissy or not!!

The weekend is proving to be just as hectic as the week.  We’re having dinner tonight with my favorite aunt and uncle, and then tomorrow, another bylaws committee meeting.  Sunday I intend to spend the day with the Knight and the fur-girls.  The four of us really need some time to just hang out and the girlies need some organized play, which is also known as training!

What does your weekend have in store for you?

I really want to hear how someone gets called CP. Congrats to Big Bubba and Nephew! Man, you guys are starting your own little fifedom!

OK. I’m NOT posting my answser to #2.
#3. I love everything. I love your knitting, I love the fur girls, I love to hear about your life.
#4. Time causes me to skim a post, or lack there of.

My weekend? Working on auction stuff, dealing with children by myself (T’s brother is having back surgery on Monday so he is gone Saturday through Wednesday

  2. anniebananie says:

OK. This thing posted my comment before I was done. I was going to add … and trying to keep from losing my mind.

  3. Nannette says:

There is small, then there is ridiculous. (Pic is missing for me.) I can see that you look LOVELY in the picture w/ your nephew.

Congrats to all those who moved up in the world. And congrats to you too on your 2nd blogiversary. May there be many more to come!

  4. Dawn says:

Congrats to Nephew, CP, and Big Bubba!

I love all the fur-girl pics…love hearing what you’re up too, things you enjoy…everything is wonderful!

If it’s one of my friends I alwyas read their blogs…if not and I’m in a hurry I’ll skim them. I love reading blogs..people are fascinating to me!

    I’ll email you question 2!:)

Happy 2 year anniversary and Happy Spring!

  5. nichole says:

Well, considering you’re my WT, I love all things about your blog… knitting, doggies, life, Namaste….. and I really enjoy seeing photos.

As for skimming posts – if I am in a super hurry, I’ll skim, although I have a few (of course you) that I make it a point to read everything… as for skipping, some blogs just don’t catch my fancy every day, esp when busy so there are often times I’ll skip or skim over many in my reader.

    Congrats to all the boys!

  6. nymphchild says:

Happy Bloggiversary to you! I just happen to be here once in a while, just because you are special, I guess. Have a nice day and weekend

  7. Dianne says:

I’m with Nanette – I don’t see a picture either. It says “This photo is currently unavailable. 😦

#3 Reading about your everyday happenings and your beautiful knitting is great, but I confess that it’s all about the dogs for me! I love your girls, and wish I could give them belly-rubs.

#4 I have been known to skim a really, really long pictureless post of someone I don’t know that well, or if I’m short on time.

  8. Cathy says:

Me, too – no photo “this photo is currently unavailable”…
I like reading your blog because
    (1) you’re coherent (most of the time!)
    (2) interesting (again, most of the time)
    (3) I knit & I have many furbabies @home and share your love of all things fibery and furry
    (4) I enjoy good-ole-boys and good ole boy stories SNOL
    (5) I like folks who are real and who SNOL
    (6) and you don’t take any CRAP off anyone… LLLLLOL

I have been known to skim or even skip long posts that have no photos, no breaks in text, or content I find ‘questionable’

    HAPPY BLOGGYVERSITY.

    fondly, Cat

  9. grace says:

    no photo here either

Happy Blogaversary I am here because I love you your baby girls and your blog, and yes sometimes I do skim other blogs but I have been a speed reader for ever and ever, and when a word or phrase catch my eye then I read the whole thing!

    have a glorious weekend

  10. gaylen says:

I so wanna play and I can’t see the photo! Drat it all. So, I don’t know if I can see her or not.

What first brought me to your page? I don’t remember. A link somewhere, I’m sure. What keeps me coming back? Love the glimpses into your life, be it fur girls, knitting, cooking, firehouse – all of it. You have a lovely way with words, you are amusing without being brass (does that make sense?)

Okay, I’m cooking breaky, I guess I should go mind it. Yes, I know it’s 11:30, but we just got home and my head hurts! g

  11. Robin in VA says:

    Congratulations to you & Bubba!

#3-Though I’ve yet to meet you, I really read your blog because I LIKE you!! ….and of course the fur-girls! I do stop by on Thursdays, sometimes I do get behind on my blog reading but I ALWAYS want to see what the girls are up to!
#4-I will usually just cruise a blog (never yours) if the blogger tends to be snarky or gets on a political rant.

  12. Marjie says:

#2 – No picture for me, either (sob)
#3 – I read because I like the pups, and I admire your knitting, although I don’t participate myself, and I enjoy your stories of life not in the big city.
#4 – I skim first to see if it’s something I really am interested in, then read more thoroughly.

Have a great weekend, and enjoy your “organized playtime”!

  13. km says:

#3. I read just because. I know you’ll post rain or shine. Not always knitting, not always puppies, not always sunshine…but always REAL. I guess I read because you’re real. That’s important to me. With a sprinkling of yarn.

#4 I only skim if my day is to hectic for me to really read and comment. Those days suck.

  14. Pam says:

#3 I have enjoyed reading about your family, esp the furbabies. I thought I was one of the few that think they are like my children, we also have firemen in our lives & along with knitting, I wonder could we be twins separated by birth?? Just kidding. Since we discovered you have family in my area, I hope we will meet in the future.

#4 If I skim a blog, it’s because it isn’t something that grabs me & catches my attention. Certainly not yours.

    Happy blogaversary!

  15. Anita says:

Happy Blogiversary! 🙂 And congrats to everyone at the firehouse!

    Email me & I’ll answer #2

#3 – I read because you are my friend & I care. I care about the fur girls & love all their photos. I care about your life & what makes you happy & what makes you sad. Of course I love knitting content too. And you are so good about posting I feel as if you are right there around the corner instead of so far away.

#4 – I will skim a blog if I’m short on time, which seems to be alot here lately! Or if someone’s not being nice. 🙂

  16. gaylen says:

Okay I can see the photo now and I want to play. I think I see Sissy. But it’s tough. Whose idea was this contest anyway? g

  17. crimsonpurl says:

Happy Blog B-day! 🙂 (mine is coming up soon in a few days too….mmh my have the b-day spirit -no contest entry for me here)

Here is to many more years of blogging and crafting!!

  18. Congrats on surviving two years of blogging! I hope by now you know I come here ’cause you’re nice, and interesting, and have cute dogs! Oh, and the knit content, when it occurs, is a good draw, too. Weekend just got a lot better than expected, as I don’t have to do a distasteful job….yet.

  19. Sonya says:

    Yes, I can see her.
I find other people’s lives much more interesting than mine. It is neat to be able to “see” into the firehouse. I stop by most days. I enjoy seeing pictures, all kinds. I might skim if there are no pics.

I hope to have a very quite weekend.

  20. Bubblesknits says:

I’ll play. 😉 I read your blog because you’re my friend and I have to get my fix of the fur-girls on a regular basis.

As for skimming, it depends on the content. If it’s something that I’m not really interested in (ex. how to make doilies or something like that) I’m more likely to skim. Usually the only time I skip blogs is when things get really crazy here. Then I’m just doing good to keep up with emails. 😉

    HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!!!!! ((HUGS))

  21. Mary says:

Happy 2nd Blogiversary!! I bet I missed mine like I missed my girls b-days…I”ma a bad mommie! 😦

Congrats to Big Bubba, CP (thats funny, I like to here about how that name came about) and to the nephew! Hansome kid and you look stunning!!

NO plans here, was gonna be outside but we are suppose to be Windy..lol my head is so stuffed now, being outside would be even worse…think I’ll catch up on some blog reads and crafts.

  22. Alana says:

I’ve been reading your blog for long enough that I don’t remember how I first discovered it–maybe a swap we were both in. Then, I got to “know” you even better when you spoiled me rotten in a tea swap.

I love seeing your knitting projects, but I also adore your dogs and the other stuff you share. Plus, you’re able to string together a complete sentence, and I don’t enjoy reading things where I have to stop and try to figure out what someone is “trying” to say!

I miss my blog, and need to get back to it again. Oh, and I’ve started quilting (please, not another addiction!), and just this evening started one for my second little grandaughter who is due within the next three weeks or so!

    Happy Blogiversary to you!!

  23. Krystle says:

Happy Bloggiversary! &&Congrats to everyone moving on up in the Department…so exciting (you look great in the photo of you and your nephew!).

    Ok…So #2…to be reviewed only by you…
#3 I like reading your blog, because you knit and talk about the dogs… so it started as a similar interests kinda thing, and then the rest is just good filler… sometimes funny, and sometimes exciting, but mostly a good read.
#4 When I skim a blog it is usually because I don’t have time to read it, so I just skim to see how long the post is..if its short I’ll read it.. if its long…I just skim over and view the pics, and generally come back later to read more.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

  24. Yay! I’m kinda new to reading your blog, and I really enjoy how real you are.

#3 I love the knitting, the stories, the photos, the knitting.

#4 I skim when I don’t have time (not an original answer, I know). I love a balance of photos and text.

This weekend: work this morning, benefit this evening, brunch with friend tomorrow morning, then taxes and laundry (blech)…and knitting.

  25. Robin says:

Happy 2nd Blogiversary!!! I love pictures in a blog. Your blog is special to me also because I’ve met you in person. What causes me to skip or skim — no pictures! I love me some pictures!

  26. Walden says:

Happy Blogiversary! The picture shows up for me.

    3. I enjoy the knitting content, but I especially adore the puppies. I can’t have pets where I am right now and I enjoy living through your pets.

    4. The only time I skim posts on any blog is when the poster doesn’t even seem to be interested the post or what they are posting about.

My weekend: I am flying out to Washington State tomorrow to hopefully see my niece born sometime this coming week!

  27. Kathy says:

    HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!

I’ll play but only because I just want to say how much your friendship means to me.
Sometimes your blog makes me laugh (Miss Sissy’s Halloween costume comes to mind)
Sometimes I have wept (your FIL, Aunt etc)
Sometimes I have smiled ( hubby moving up in ranks, now your nephew…….congrats)
Sometimes I just need a pick me up and you, your knitting and the girls give me that pleasure.
It’s been an absolute joy to know you and I feel like I’ve known you fur-ever:)

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  28. KSee says:

Happy turning two. I like stopping by because you always have something going on. You have shared links your bedutiful and pf course your fur babies.

  29. MrPuffy says:

Of course I can see her!

I read your blog because, it’s YOU :)))

I like the variety of life events that you share and that you are a real person and not a phony balony.

  30. MrPuffy says:

PS I was so taken up with the contest rules and trying to comply that I completely forgot to say what a handsome Nephew you have and that I wish him much success in his career!

  31. KnittySue says:

Congrats on 2 years of our enjoyment.
#3 I love reading about the furkids, your knitting and what your up to.
#4 I just briefly browse blogs that are ranting, boring, political or have any swear words…but those are usually ranting.
I love visiting your blog while having my coffee…

  32. Miss Me says:

    happy second b’day!

#3 – i like reading about your life and all that it includes. it makes me feel warm.

#4 – what makes me skim a blog post? usually it is lack of time. although some bloggers sometimes give me way to much detail on things that i just really don’t want to know about and i will skim those. sometimes the level of detail makes me feel like a peeping tom.

  33. Natalie says:

    Happy 2 years!

#3 I follow your blog because I enjoy the pictures you share of your pups and your projects! You are a dear friend and I like reading about your life and adventures.

#4 When I don’t have a lot of time and the post is really long…which is funny because I know when I post a long blog post I think…would I have time to read this whole thing. 🙂

  34. Nancy says:

    Congrats to the new officers!

    -I think I can see Sissy…
-I enjoy your blog many reasons. I like your photos, your knitting content, and it is fun to read about what’s going on in your world. Your writing is very expressive and intelligent, and I like that.
-I skim a blog post if I’m busy and trying to cram as much in to what ever time I have. There are many times I will go back to a post at a later time if what I saw caught my interest. Kind of like a mental bookmark!

  35. Darcy says:

Your blog is a regular favorite that I share with my girls we love the fur girls.I feel like we know you and the knight and your girls:)You talk like your sharing your day with friends I love that about you:)The knitting is wonderful and sometimes you make me laugh.I would have to say keep doing what you do it’s great maybe video’s if you can do some would love that:)
I haven’t read blogs in several days hubby’s car broke down and my allergies are causing migraines and my oldest daughter is visiting so all my extra time has been spent with her as I put her on a plane Sunday.I feel your pain over the allergies they are aweful.((((((((((((hugging You))))))) Darcy

  36. Happy Blogiversary!! Sorry I”m just getting around to catching up on posts… my semi-haitus includes most internet activities. But lotsa hugs for 2 years!!

Okay as for reading your blog, one of my faves! You’re in my “1.Fave Blogs” in my Feed Reader. Other categories include “Knitters” “Book Blogs” “Swaps & Alongs” and “Funny”. The funny category is great… includes LOLcatz!

I usually skim when I don’t have the time to read it in full, or I’m not really interested (ie: book review of a book that isn’t my genre/type/author/cuppa tea).
