Run on over and check out the new pet blog we’ve started.  It’s called Dogs N More, but it’s all about pets and how we care for them.  We want it to be interactive and involved, so please visit, comment, and share your tips and ideas with us!

In other news, it’s Monday, and I’d like to be at home.    Some weeks it’s harder than others to get back into the grind even after two short days away, and evidently, this is one of them.

I spent much of yesterday trying to decide which of my new yarns wants to jump on the needles and what it might like to become.  I’m suddenly a little concerned about the yellow in the Kudos being near my face, so a non-headwear pattern is needed.

I also wanted to mention the 3/50 project, which I discovered via a button on Robin‘s blog.  Since we’re the fifth generation in the inlaws’ family business, this matters to me on SO many levels.    Please just click over and read for yourself about the campaign to support the independent businesses that have indeed paved the way for all business as we know it.

How was your weekend?

I’m doing my best to support 3/50 in a smaller way. Shopping smaller, local stores, farmer’s markets and less internet (I know!).

Swatch up the kudos – the yellow might not be as bright as you think. It might be just fine as a quant. And unless you really, really want one, I know you don’t have a problem knitting and gifting. Just think – you’ll have a head start on Holiday 2009 🙂 g

  2. I agree with Gaylen. Swatch up the goodies and go from there. My weekend was….ok. Happy to have Jeremy home for a few days, bummed to still be dealing with the eye. Off to the Dr after a shower.

Remember it’s July, time to start holiday knitting. That’s what I’m blogging about today after a dog food run. If it doesn’t work for you, pick someone on your gift list.

It could be just the photo, but I don’t think the yellow stands out too much. If the yarn wants to be a quant…let it be.

I try to spend my money at local family businesses. I saw the 3/50 about a month ago…I think it’s a great thing to be a part of.

These dang antibiotics have dizziness as a side effect. I don’t really need to be more *more* dizzy.

Make a scarf. We too are small business owners. You probably know that I have a local farmer deliver my milk, and a locally owned (not chain) restaurant supply house deliver most of my other food (they also cut my meat the way I want it). There’s also a locally owned lumberyard that’s not as big as the national chains, but is still trying to compete. Doug the owner loves me and my kids, and I buy everything from him, including my half ton of garden soil and the rest of those supplies! I commented on your new blog, just for you! I was proud to be your first comment.

I’ve got some Kudo on the way from Yarn Country. I loved yours, so decided to give it a try. I’ll be anxious to see what pattern you choose.

i love the 3/50 link and idea! while sometimes it is impossible to avoid buying from a chain, i do avoid it as much as is possible. we’d all miss independent retailers if they were gone, so we need to make the effort to support them – especially in rural areas.

Wow. As the daughter of a small businessman, thank you!

I do my part to support small indie businesses every time I buy yarn!!! 🙂

My weekend – it involved many hours in car. The rest was pretty much a blur, including a nearly 4 hour nap on the sofa last night.

I so don’t want to be here either.

Weekend? Too short! I’m just BEAT today… ugh.

What about a cute little bag or change purse with that yarn?

  11. Congrats on the new dog blog!! 🙂

And the yarn is lovely!! I won’t worry too much about the yellow and knit to your heart’s desire!

I love all your ideas… 350, the pet blog, and that yarn is simply beautiful! You’ll have to let me know what you end up making with it! How much do you have?

My weekend was alright… it wasn’t so much a weekend though, but that’s alright…Work is just work, and in a few weeks I will be happy that I have the job so I can furnish the new apartment 🙂

    Hope your weekend was well!

As a business owner, I wholeheartedly agree with the 3/50 premise and try to support local businesses whenever I have the option. Supporting independent businesses is one of the most patriotic things any of us can do!
