Birth-month winding down

I’d just like to thank my dear friends and family for humoring me with my efforts to celebrate my birthday all month long.  I’m quite lucky to have such generous, thoughtful friends!

Ann gave me all kinds of beautiful goodies, including another bag.  It’s from Longaberger.  Isn’t it pretty?!

She also gave me a cute keyring a friend of hers made.  I love the colors, and the bags.  It’s going to be pressed into duty tonight with my office keys for the League office.

She also gave me another pair of her earrings.  I love the color; in real life (as opposed to whatever your monitor is showing), it’s a beautiful not true red, hot pink that can be worn with everything.   You too can have your own earrings in the colors of your choice.  Just contact Ann via her blog and let her know you need a pair.

There was more too, but I’m way behind today, so there are the highlights.  Thank you Ann!  MJ also wants to know when HRH is coming back for another visit.

We’ve pretty much made a decision on the car search, but we still need to test drive one equipped at least similarly to what we want.  Then, we’ll need to decide if we want to order one or just try to find one that’s “close enough” to what we want.  However, after the Acura fiasco, I think I’ll sit on this option until we’ve nailed something down for sure.

lemons

What?  I didn’t tell you about the Acura mess, did I?  We were so sure it was going to be a perfect fit, but it wasn’t.  The seats weren’t comfortable, the trip computer was showing 9.6 MPG, and with a premium fuel requirement, that just isn’t good enough.   Add in that the salesman who waited on me earlier in the week wasn’t around, the one who was waiting on us Saturday couldn’t find the keys, and then there was no one to wait on us when we returned from the very upsetting test drive, and there’s no way I’ll do business with that dealership.  Luckily for them, I’m an honest sort, and I just dumped the key and the paperwork on a desk and walked away.

And WHY do all the American (including Toyota) car companies think that just because I want leather and cargo room, I want second row bucket seats?  That’s my serious grump, because it eliminates almost everything.

How goes your Monday?

One thing I learned once: if you possibly can, rent the car you think you want to buy for a day or two, long enough to find all the things you really don’t like about it. It changed my mind on a few things when I did that.

Perfect bag for the Diva:). Seriously it is a gorgeous bag. Love it!

Car issues? I thought Mr. B had this under control. LOL

I agree with both previous posts. Renting one for a day or two is good idea, much better feel than just the test drive. And with a compressor handy you can see how the dogs fit in the rental. (you use the compressor to blow the dog hair out – seriously.)

I did think Mr. B had the car decision nailed with the truck in a truck option.

Love the little bag. Can I just say – there is no way I’ll get a package to you before birth month is over. Can I have an extension? g

I hate shopping for a new anything, when what I really want is just the old thing which worked well made new again.

Off topic: One of my well meaning but stooopid kids put my Pampered Chef ice cream scoop through the dishwasher. Does that kill it? The instructions said not to run it through the DW.

Renting sounds like a good idea. Then put the girls in and see how it feels.

I like the bag, but then I haven’t met many totes I didn’t like.

  6. Hee hee…love the picture of the lemons to illustrate your point…:-)
Do you have an entire room to store your bags in? ‘Cause it seems like you’d need one…I think you do better on bith month than I do, and I think I know why; your b-day is at the begging of a month and mine is at the end…no one thinks of it until the month is nearly over!

How fun to have a birthday celebration all month! You deserve it – you are tirelessly working and doing things for others 🙂

Just shut your eyes, spin around, and wander through a lot and wherever you end up – pick that car – LOL

I agree with everyone else…renting is a fabulous idea. I might try that the next time.

Wow! You have had a terrible time finding a car 😦
Good thing you are surrounded by friends to celebrate your birthday for you all month long! I love your new bag!

You still have another birthday present coming… possibly a gift for you on my birthday! SNOL

Lots of goodies from Ann there. 🙂

    I didn’t know they made bags….

They don’t make them anymore, or I’d send you out to try a Magnum. M’s is wonderful. Sunroof. Tons of cargo room. Leather…and the back bench seat actually fits 3 carseats…only tried that once….for sure the girls would be comfy. Maybe you could look for a gently used one. Ours had the big engine, so it’s a gas guzzler, but there are more pump friendly versions.

I had 4 out running errands while the boys were at VBS and we met a super cut 10 month old basset named Griffin. Now I know about the slobber you talk of. This cutie kissed my little one and her face was all wet. =0)

Sorry to hear that the car didn’t work out. Just don’t buy a Volkswagen. My parents had a TERRIBLE experience there.

The bag is fantastic! Hooray for having a birth ‘month’!

nice bag! on the car front – you’re scaring me… i was informed last week that the momobile really should be replaced. 1998 Honda CRV, close to 350,000 km on her (approx. 220,000 miles). i love her… i don’t want a new car!

  14. Anniebananie says:

I’m so glad you like the goodies! And tell MJ that whenever she wants a visit from HRH, just let me know and I can arrange that… can I also arrange dropping her off and taking you for some yarn therapy, or is that pushing it?

So, what car are you going for???

222K on the outback. I love that car. The body is in great shape – I’m thinking about simply replacing the engine when it goes out. Yeah, I know, T is not going to go for that!

as always a great bag, your friends know you well!!! I could go nuts looking at the homestead web page at longaberger.com and checking out their bags!!
