Happy Dogs on Thursday! Are you and your pack gearing up for Howl-o-ween? We had our dry run yesterday, and I’m glad we did. Sissy had a message for me… but pictures are worth a thousand words.
First of all, DIVA needs a XXL or bigger in this particular line of dogwear. However, an ill-fitting costume was only part of the problem.
I’ve said before that while Gretchen LOVES clothes, Sissy doesn’t. (Hats, yes. Clothes, no.)
The dog I affectionately call “My Mooo” just broke my heart as she slunk around the deck, pouting and sulking, and doing all she could to make it clear she doesn’t like CLOTHES.
In contrast, she LOVES “hats.” One would think that a small headband would hurt her head, that those wobbly bats would make her shake her head, but no.
She proudly posed with her “crown.”
Okay Sis. I get it. Crowns yes, gowns no.
Meanwhile, my little honey was happy to be a bee.
Her tiny ears didn’t work with the head part, but she’s still cute anyway, right?
Actually, that’s probably all the Halloweening we’ll do this year. We don’t have trick or treaters down in the Woods, and while Gretchen would be happy to dress up for a few hours, clearly, Sissy would not. She’s more of a pose for the camera and get back to life gal, it seems.
Happy little friday!
Too cute. I can’t believe Halloween is just around the corner. Is Sissy’s crown a people headband or a doggie one?
That first picture of Sissy is absolutely priceless! She appears to be saying – get this cow off me or I’ll eat you!
I really should try dressing my dogs sometime . . . .
g
I dreamt last night that I had a tiny brown poodle, and my father (who died 18 years ago) gave me a huge ball of yarn to knit it a turtleneck sweater like Gretchies,(I don’t think dad ever knew I could knit) he thought the neck was too loose though and had me put a drawstring in. Now whats weird is I can’t have dogs here, but this one fit in my Hermosa beautifully and I could have made 10000 sweaters from the hank of yarn.
Your two are as adorable as ever.
Toooooooooo cute! We don’t do halloween here on the farm either….no one around!:)
If you try that again, I’d be on the lookout for mad cow! Cowl yes, cow no, apparantly. As usual, my fur girls will not be dressing for the howl-i-day; the men-folk would totally have fits! Happy little Friday~
wuuu – woof woof!

Gretch-eng looks
Fetch-ing
as a bee!
Well, gee Mom, what do you expect if you try to dress me like a cow. What an insult. I’m more of a butterfly, delicate and pretty. Geesh!!!!
oooooh sissy’s “crown” is so AWESOME ahahaha
and could gretchie be any cuter? probably!
How adorable! Regardless of it not fitting, I’m glad you tried it on her and took pictures for us all to see. I love that she likes to wear headbands – it just makes her that much more unique. Bluebonnet was a bee one year but Gretchen certainly gives her a run for the money when it comes to who was cuter!
LOL Sissy has the same expression as Fluffy. The “seriously…why are you doing this?” look. I love her crown, though. 🙂
Oh, my, I’m laughing out loud at that first picture of poor Sissy! She was clearly made to wear hats, though! Gretchen is a cute little honey bee!
I love Sissy’s bats crown and Gretchen looks to cute in her bee costume my girls are witch’s this year:)Hugs Darcy
Oh my… the bats looks FAB of Sissy. I can’t believe she doesn’t shake her head like mad… Lola would be spaz! Very cute.
We saw another doggy with that cow costume… its adorable when it fits and the wearer will “wear” it…
Gretchie is the cutest bee I ever did see!
Does Sissy have antlers to be a Bassalope?
Mr. B says he could’ve told you that Sissy wouldn’t want to dress like a dumb cow. He says the tutu or the princess outfit is so much more fitting for her. I, on the other hand, have laughed myself silly…….LOL Love the bat hat……
Gretchen makes a perfect little bee:)
Let Sissy be a flower garden! Clearly, she’s a lovely girl who just abhors the idea of being a cow! Poor girl; the attitude is just screaming through the pictures…
They’re adorable, and you’re having fun with the puns! Howlaween. I love it.
I can’t take credit. There’s a local pet parade tomorrow that calls itself “Howl-o-ween.”

They look great! I agree crowns instead of gowns.
SNOL! They both look adorable! 🙂
Sissy is more of a Princess kind of gal, loves her crowns & tutus. Isn’t that funny, Sissy hates sweaters & such, but loves hats & a tutu… Gretchie loves sweaters & hated the tutu. Silly doggies.
That’s a hoot! Too cute!
There is something very wrong about dressing a dog up like a cow… very, very, wrong… if I were Sissy, I’d be unhappy too! 🙂
Too-too funny!! I can hear Sissy now “but, I don’t wanna be a cow!” — and of course Gretchen’s happy to buzz around!
OMG!!!I love the bats!!! and a bee costume is perfect for Gretchen.
cute! and who can blame sissy for not wanting to be a cow? we did the dry run last night at the elementary school fundraiser. younger son had a great time (older son REFUSED to go!) but mom here was just too tired… although we did try “cocooning” our village mayor to the wall. yet another use for duct tape!
The pictures are great! I had thought about dressing sampson up as Eor from Winnie the Pooh, as he mopes about like the first picture…maybe next year. I think both are really cute! Can’t wait to see all the ones on Sue’s parade!
Very cute costumes, too bad Sissy isn’t a gown girl. Maybe she should have been the bee with antennas! LOL
Chan, This post was so wonderful. I am missing my Huck so much this Halloween. he loved to go trick or treating. I don’t think I can bear to walk our neighborhood without him.. Odd I didn’t think I’d be so affected today
