V is for…

V is for…  really is the project name.

Pattern:  Multnomah – direct link to the pdf file.    If you’ve never done feather and fan before, make sure you read the “editing” tab on the Ravelry project page, or see Robin’s notes .    I would type out the necessary changes here, but I’ve given you two awesome resources that are a click away…  Other than following those “clarifications” I made no modifications to the pattern.

Yarn:  Swoon!   If you haven’t knitted with Kathy‘s Gypsyknits BFL Superwash Fingering, you’re missing out.  I have to admit that I let this yarn marinate for a good while, but when it turned up as my January personal brown bag stash sock club offering, Barbara suggested that we have a knit-along with our Gypsyknits yarns…

Oh… and the colorway is Victorian Tea.

Needles:  Addi Turbo Lace 40″, US size #4.  Most wonderful needles in the whole wide world.

Verdict:  I’m well-pleased.  I still don’t know what I’m going to do with it, but it’s a nice little shawlette, and it used almost a whole skein of yarn from my stash.

Now, the weekend and the last 2.5 rows and bind-off of Citron await.  The Knight and his band of merry men are busy with their shed-raising (although my girlfriends and I voted last night and decided that the little house is far too large to be called a shed – but what do we know?) and more tree work this weekend.

I’ll slip away tomorrow for a bit of scrapbooking and/or card making, and that’s about as exciting as it gets this weekend.  How ’bout you?  Will you have sunshine and warm temperatures?  Hmmm…  I think I’ll add some walks and dog baths to the agenda too.

I love the way that yarn knits up! I’m always so leery of variegated yarn because of possible pooling (which always seems to happen to me), but your mini-shawl looks fantastic!

  2. Barbara says:

Chan, you are soooo talented! I just don’t have the patience anymore. That yarn is gorgeous! You’re going to find tons of places to wear that shawl!

We’re still a bit chilly down here, but the sun is shining and things are supposed to warm up by the beginning of next week. Our insulation is so bad in S. Florida that the cold just comes whipping right on through and it takes days to warm up again after the weather turns nice again. I get all warmed up at the gym every morning!

Oh man, that is beautiful! Things just seem to be flying off of your needles lately. I wish I could have that problem.

This weekend? Doughnut making at mom’s tomorrow. Laundry. Trying to get rid of the oncoming head cold. Did I mention laundry?

  4. Grace says:

Channon the shawl is beautiful, I love Gypsy Knit yarns and the names of her colors

Can’t wait to Citron and then on to those baby blankets

I am winding up Oh So Many Sock Remnants Shawl and Hamamelis this weekend. The first has a good amount of feather and fan too!!!

Tom is helping my sister’s family move so I will have lots of knitting and chick flick time! Now if I could get some of anniebananie’s doughnuts!!!

  5. Mary says:

Very nice shawlette! And it has lots of PANK, too.

As for the size of the “shed” — I, for one, suspect a ManCave is being built. If you see any size refrigerator or TV going in it once it is completed, then it is officially a ManCave for the Knight and his “manpanions.” No wonder he has so much help lined up to build it.

  6. Sue says:

Tomorrow we start a new dog walking routine. Rob is going with us so we can take two at a time. Baths for Samba and Fudge. Haircuts for some of the others.

I’d like to finish the taxes and get them out of the way. Then I want to start organizing the library. I’ll try to fit some knitting and reading in there, too.

  7. Well, that gorgeous yarn became a very lovely little shawl, and so quickly, too! Enjoy your weekend. Sheds are just little houses, aren’t they?

  8. Kathy says:

Looks great! Some day I am going to make one of these. I have the yarn picked out and set aside. Unfotunately making a living gets in the way of my knitting time.

  9. Nichole says:

Love it!!! Hey, is that the one I was supposed to KAL with you and Anita? lol 🙂

  10. Marjie says:

Gretchen looks like she wants it. It does seem to have some pink in it, after all!

  11. Walden says:

Looks lovely and very Spring-ish colors. Gretchen looks unsure about the shawl.

We are suppose to get into the low forties this weekend, sadly that sound so warm. 🙂

  12. gaylen says:

I love that shawlette! It’s fabulous. I want to see it draped over you to get an idea of how big it really is. Love it!! g

  13. It came out so beautiful!!

  14. kathy b says:

What a great shawl. I love when the yarn you think you’ll love knits up perfectly like yours did!

Cricket walks, and work this weekend! Cricket is even sweeter than I could have hoped or imagined.

  15. Heather says:

    Beautiful!!!!

  16. Louise says:

Lovely Channon, simply lovely. Your patience and tenacity never cease to amaze me. I had no idea there were so many beautiful yarns until I “met” you.

As for the weekend, I’m off to an auction tomorrow. I would be at a “shed raising” except I’m having mine built “as we speak.” Okay, I admit, I got a wee bit carried away:) Have a wonderful weekend. I think it’s going to be nice in “our” neck of the woods.

  17. Bubblesknits says:

Gorgeous! I’m deciding that I love shawlettes. 🙂

We’ve got dance pictures tomorrow and more packing (big surprise, huh?). lol I’m finding that I’m running into needing things that I’ve already packed up, though. I hate, hate, hate this in between houses mess.

  18. So pretty!! The yarn is just gorgeous and I love how the pattern shows that!!

    Happy Weekend!

  19. Dianne says:

That’s lovely! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that yarn – it’s great!

  20. Bridget says:

Your Multonomah is lovely! I have that one on my brain, ready to do soon. Seeing yours just pushed it a little closer to the front of my brain …

  21. Julie says:

Channon~This is so pretty! I already have the pattern; I just may have to make it unless you would like my address and send me yours. My birthday is in June.

  22. Judy W says:

I really like the colors in this shawlette. Is it as pretty in person as in the picture?

    Judy

  23. V is for Very Pretty!!

  24. Martina says:

What a gorgeous shawl, Chan! Very, very nice! 🙂

  25. Sandy says:

Pretty! I can’t wait to dip into my Gypsyknits yarn….its in the brown bag pile somewhere.

I’m having a quiet weekend, as they all seem to be these days. I worked Saturday morning and spent the afternoon housecleaning and cooking. Knitting and a movie occupied the evening. More cleaning today and some more knitting. It is a gorgeous day, but muddy out there, so I’m going to sit in the big comfy chair by the window with my sock in progress. Oh yeah. I also have to throw some heavy weights around and hit the treadmill.

  26. Dawn says:

Beautiful shawl….this was a trying knit for me! I have an award on my blog for you!:) hugs

  27. AllyB says:

Very nice work Chan! It’s a beautiful color too.

  28. AlisonH says:

And the forecast is: birds at 9, noon, 3, and six on the feeder, squirrels hoping for it at 11. Back to you, Chan, for sports.

Ah yes, we see the gray squirrel debating going in for a field goal–sacked by the door opening. Nuts to that idea–dooropener takes it down the field and SCORES! Zero to one! And the crowd goes (what else) wild!

  29. Anita says:

The V is very pretty… use it yourself for a scarf. 🙂

  30. Kathy says:

The shawlette is pretty. Love the pattern. Job well done…….off to find yarn and needles 😉
