No Navy?

What a weekend!  The fur-girls have been busy; they stuck up a couple of posts, with today’s bemoaning a quick photo op yesterday…

First try online!

We were busy too.  We had a wedding Saturday, and the preparations for such really opened my eyes.  As the title implies, I learned that navy shoes are not to be had this season, not in podunk.  I did spot a blah blue suede pair of flats that did nothing for me, but other than those, everything navy I found had a gum sole – seriously.   I guess I’ll be ordering a pair online today, since they aren’t so hard to find there.  Hrmph.  I ended up with a gold pair of flats, because I was out of time and patience, and the sales guy insisted gold was a neutral this year.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter.  Is gold a neutral?    Should it really be impossible to find navy flats in mid-September?

Despite my footwear fiasco, the wedding was lovely.  It was great to catch up with some of my former co-workers from the city fire department, but no, I don’t have photos.

September 2010 004I didn’t even have much time to knit or read, but that didn’t stop me from finishing up #4 in the tea shop series, and I started Innkeeping with Murder, a Hatteras  West mystery – on the Nook.   I also cast on for yet another pair of Cottys, this time in a baby size…

And yes, I finished the sweater, but the jury’s still out on the photos I took late last night.  If I bite the bullet and opt to use those, I’ll have a finished object report for you tomorrow!

How was your weekend?

Wait… weren’t you looking for a dress to go with the shoes you already had? Oh boy… and no, navy shoes should NOT be hard to find…any time of year. As for gold, I’m the wrong one to ask… hhmm?

    Pretty yarn!

Oh and I flickr-stalked…. I like the one of you & Gretchie with the tee underneath. It’s not “the best” but its cute and you can see the sweater…. =)

Actually, sales guy is correct, gold is a neutral this year – as are taupe, navy, and grey. So, if you like the shoes wear and enjoy them. If not – return them!

My weekend felt very hectic and rushed and not much was accomplished even though I got up with the dogs at 5:30 Sunday morning! I got just the tinest bit of sewing done. :\ g

My mother-of-the-groom shoes showed up after the wedding. I did a mother-of-pearl color and it was okayyyy, but…

Zappos. Even I can find shoes (now that I know about them) on Zappos.com, and I wear 6.5EE. They’re not a discount place, but they’re fast.

Don’t you know you can never find the whatever you want during the season you need it? Have you tried finding a swimsuit in the summer? Forget it. You have to get your swimsuit in February. Sandals in the winter, boots in the summer.

I had a lousy weekend. I sat around and watched Rob sleep and worried about how I’m going to keep him home for two weeks as the doctor ordered.

Can you tell I’m in a bad mood? Does it show?

I’d have gone with the gold, with some gold accessories. And I’ve always found navy shoes incredibly hard to find. In the past 30 years, I have bought one pair of navy sandals, one pair of navy pumps, and one pair of navy corduroy flats. That’s all I’ve found!

  7. I’ve already ragged on the shoe issue, so….pretty little Cottys and at least someone got a little reading done!

Gold and silver are not neutral.

Personally, I think that ‘gold’ shoes would be more of a novelty, and unless you’re an old lady on a cruise or a drag queen at Disco Night, you have no business wearing gold shoes. But that’s just me. LOL I do like those navy blue shoes in the picture.

We had a great weekend and hate for it to end, but at least we were both off for today as well. Hope you’re doing well!

Like you, I am amazed at how hard it is to find navy shoes – I mean, NAVY!

I think gold and silver are both neutrals, and unless they had lots of extra stuff on them, wouldn’t worry about it.

What weekend? I missed it! 🙂 I have navy flip flops, does that count? he he

The only navy shoes I can find are a pair of 15 year old Bally loafers that rest in the bottom of my closet. I bought them in a wicked sale in Harrods and periodically have re-soled. A lusciously soft leather–wonderful. But finding anything like them today, pffft.

I have navy pumps (2″) and low navy pumps. I would like a pair of navy flats, so you must tell me from where you are ordering yours.

Gold is the new neutral? Hmpf. Not in my book.

Lord, I’m definitely not the right one to talk to about fashion. snol Jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts are my standard attire. ; )
