This is actual a finished object report, but there is a cute dog photo, so happy dogs on Thursday to our doggy bloggy friends. There are several cute dog photos on Sissy’s post…
Also, happy little friday, Thankful Thursday and an especially happy birthday to the Knight and my friend Barbara. Too bad we aren’t even in the same state… I think she and the Knight would have a ball celebrating together.
But back to this finished object. I’ve been on a hat quest. So, when I found a pattern whose recommended yarn happened to be part of Dog House Yarn‘s inventory, I rather presumptuously offered to knit a shop sample, and Rosanne agreed.
Pattern: Plymouth Yarn’s Slouchy Hat with Picot Edge. Lovely little pattern. Just enough variation to make it interesting, but still very easy. I’m especially fond of picots, so… I made the large size, with no modifications, because if the hat was going to come back to live with me, I didn’t want hat head.
Yarn: Plymouth’s buttery Royal Llama Silk. Loved it, but it is quite splitty.
Needles: #6 and #8 bamboo circs.
Verdict: I’d definitely knit this pattern again, but not for me. I don’t seem to have a slouch hat head. I most assuredly would use the yarn again. I love the color, texture and everything! (Although I DO love this photo of me. MJ says I look like a girl. How could I NOT love a photo that does that for me?!) And I most definitely need more of this shade of purple in my wardrobe…
Thankful? I’m thankful for so much. The Christmas spirit seemed to settle in yesterday. I’m able to knit with awesome yarns and test-drive stuff I MIGHT want for me – or not. It’s a very cute hat, but not on my head. I’m also very thankful for the dear Knight! Are you counting blessings?
Happy Birthday to the Knight from all of us. That is a great color on you. I’d definitely get more. I think one has to be very young to wear slouch hats successfully. I feel uncomfortable in them.
Yesterday was unbelievably productive. Hop I get a few more days like that in the next couple weeks.
I love that hat and will have to make one for me!
Happy birthday to the Knight. I hope he has a wonderful and relaxing day!!!
And yes, I count my blessings every day that I wake up.
I have to agree with MJ… you do look like a youngin in that pic! 🙂 Love the color too!
Happy Birthday to the Knight!
The hat looks great on Sissy. I think MJ thought it makes you look girly because of the color, not the slouch.
And another happy birthday wish to your Knight!
Lovely hat, but like you I’m not fond of the slouchy look. I don’t remember that from the photos we looked at – wasn’t it being worn more beret style?
Happy Birthday Mr. Knight. I hope this one is lovely. That upcoming year brings you peace and happiness. Have a fabulous day.
And finally – not yet. I need a huge decompression. I hope to be productive today, but I bet I veg. 😦 g
It’s very cute, it just needs (here, as I bop on over and rearrange–there) the slouch part to be going behind rather than the side. Right?
cute pic…you AND the pup!!!
happy Birthday Knight and MJ is correct you look like one of my daughters in that picture, and I am a wee bit too young to be your mama although I suppose in this day and age it could have happened!
I love picots too! Cute hat on you…not sure why you think you’re not a slouch girl…you look GREAT! So Much To Be Thankful For!
I think it’s a fabulous hat and it looks great on you! I’m not sure why you don’t think you’re a slouchy hat kind of girl; maybe you just haven’t yet thought of yourself as slouchy hat kind of girl.
Bitty needs a Christmas crown…
Tee heee….I’m with Alison, we just need to adjust the hat on your head. I’m sure you COULD wear it well if you tweek the thing a little here and there. I had to tweak Tara’s slouchy hat a bit to reach optimum happiness for her/us, too.
As I looked at the picture, I was thinking what a good pic it was of you. Then I kept reading and saw that you liked it, too!
Happy birthday to the Knight!! Sissy looks really cute with that hat, even if she’s not very thrilled 🙂 Very nice picture of you, too!
Lovely! The color is wonderful.
Cute hat, and that Sissy is adorable!
I really like the yarn over rows in that hat. Very pretty.
Thanks for the sweet birthday wishes, Chan! You bet the Knight and I would have fun celebrating…even though we’re different generations! 🙂
I LOVE the hat!!! (Is that snow I see in the background?)
Love the color of this hat (as you know).
You and ‘the girl’ look quite spiffy in the hat ;). Great pictures of both.
Happy Birthday Dear Knight! =) I love the hat and I think it looks adorable on you!
Cute hat, & that is a very good photo of you. 🙂
And I do love that darker purple on you, definately need more of that shade in your wardrobe….
