Seaweed!

Lunch with Amy yesterday was incredible, as always.  I really like Thai 99, and Amy is just fab company, always.  She surprised me with a gift!

I stole the photo from her blog.  This post has more info, and a cute photo of Amy’s darling husband modeling the cowl.  He’s such a good sport.  Thank you Amy; I lurvers it!!  It’s soft, pretty and will assure that I keep with my plan to wear something festive all week.

Oh – and if you didn’t click over, the post title reflects the pattern name.  Spud & Chloe calls the colorway Turtle.  Turtle makes Seaweed.  For some reason, that tickles me, probably more than it should.

Wow!  I’m actually on track for my holiday baking.  One batch of burnt sugar almonds are made and mostly gone, one batch of fudge is done (and living on the dryer in the laundry room, because no laundry will be done in the next few days and that door is ALWAYS shut), but now, the Knight wants sugar cookies.

However, it appears UPS is holding hostage two packages I needed for tonight – and expected earlier this week.  Grrr!!   If I don’t have surprises on my front steps, I’ll have to wrap photos or the tracking numbers I guess?

What do you do when a gift doesn’t arrive or isn’t knitted on time?  (Why yes, I do know how to avoid that, and maybe next year…)

I used to shop so that I was done with Christmas by Halloween. 9’s b-day is early November and I always intend to FULLY enjoy Thanksgiving…so if I’m not done by then I don’t get to enjoy the holidays like I’d like. That said, I would wrap a photo of the item. I’ve done that more times than I can count. Usually for birthdays.

What a great little cowl. I’m really loving S&C yarns.

Love that cowl – and what a good husband Amy has – I love that he modeled it! Cute.

I’m sure I’ve shared before that I’ve been known to give one sock and a ball of yarn (back before 2AAT) or a quilt top. I don’t usually order, so I can’t help you with that one. g

Wrapping a tracking number–now there’s an idea, thank you for the laugh (and the inspiration!)

    Love the cowl!

Now that everyone on our gift list is grown up, if a gift doesn’t arrive in time, they get a phone call telling them they have a late gift coming. Kids of a certain age need to have the gifts there on time, but adults understand and usually enjoy getting something after everything else is opened and put away.

As for not finishing a gift in time, there is a solution to that one. Start earlier.

A photo IOU would always be OK I suppose….. 😉

LOVE that cowl… very pretty and it looks so soft! Great gift!!!

Last year, Fedex failed to deliver a big honkin’ box that I’d paid for 2 day air (probably because our front bell doesn’t work and the kids who heard the knocking on the door ignored it), so I printed out a picture of the gift, wrapped it with the “we will redeliver” notice in a giant box, and gave it to my son. It was his job to listen for the door the next day. As for starting gifts earlier, well, we all know what road is paved with our good intentions. And I’m well on my way down that one. That cowl is very pretty, and a really nice color (although I think turtles are usually darker?).

You ship everything right after Thanksgiving and have your friends/family ask you why you send things so early … that’s how you beat that! LOL I’ve just had a few packages ‘disappear’ in the past so I always send early. If I don’t do things early, I think my brain would explode. LOL

I’m so glad you liked the cowl!!

Ok *headsmack* here. Looks like I rolled two blog comments into one.

    Love the cowl.

Presents have been wrapped, but baking has not yet begun. It may become new year’s baking! I’m hoping to have the kids help me some on Christmas eve – which reminds me, I need to figure out what we are going to have. Hmmm…

    Love your new cowl, sweet!

I wrap photos when I don’t get something in time…. I even wrapped a photo of an afghan one year when I didn’t finished in time for my SIL. 🙂 Thenn I mailed it to her in Jan. when I did finish it….

I goofed and thought I’d bought something for Karate Kid when, actually, I hadn’t. Overnighted it and it’s supposed to get here tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. :gulp:

  14. Beautiful! I love Spud & Chloe yarns so much.
