Green with Envy

I’ve found my dress for Vintage Vegas this year.  Problem is… someone else has it.

Green was THE color for gowns at the Golden Globes.  I’m not much on celebrity watching, but I saw Angelina’s gown (left) this morning, and I want it.  I don’t even know who Mila Kunis (right) is, but her gown is lovely too…  just a little too much train and I can’t do the one shoulder thing.

The Today Show did designer knock-offs this morning, but alas, none of the green gowns were featured.  Pout.

What does your weekend hold?  We have a low-keyed weekend ahead.  We both have colds that required prescriptive interventions, which makes me cranky; I don’t get sick.  (Why yes Virginia, I do realize stress zaps an immune system, but I don’t have to be gracious about it.)  I haven’t even been capable of knitting this week.  I’m trying to read A Dog’s Purpose, but that requires a bit of focus, and I don’t have any of that either.

I almost missed the e-book cover by Vera!  She calls it an E-Reader Sleeve.  I have a cover on my Nook I like a lot , but…  I do want to check it out in person and see how much padding there is.  It appears my Nook as currently covered would slide right in there…

And does anyone have a recipe for truffled mac ‘n cheese?  I was so hoping X Lounge would have more of that for this year’s League party, but… they didn’t.  The bacon-wrapped fig bits were a horribly distant second, but the darling chocolate ganache or fresh berries in the wee tart cups were the perfect light desserts!

Have a warm and relaxing weekend!

I love that color, and those are both beautiful gowns. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for Angelina’s for you, because it is wonderful!

I foresee a problem with that e-reader cover. Gretchen can’t read. And she’ll think it’s hers, being pink and all. I’m just saying.

That is a beautiful shade and lovely gowns, but honesly AJ’s looks just a bit matronly to me.

KAM said to tell you that Borders had VB Tea for One sets. She was going to buy you one…..

Weekend – maybe I can be productive and actually finish something?

Oh – the reader – would be lovely inside a bag, but Marjie is right, GG will quickly claim it. g

My Kindle has a red cover, so I’d need something that doesn’t clash. Let me know how much padding is in that one.

It’s cold and snowy here. I’d like to stay in bed all weekend, but there’s no chance. No plans, however.

Forget the dress, I want to bod.

No award shows for me this weekend either. Taking mental health day today; two long drives tomorrow to go to a mtg; and relaxing Sunday.

  5. Mary says:

    Okay, I meant THE bod.

Can’t wait to hear your in person review of the Vera sleeve. I was thinking the same – that Nook w/ current cover should fit in there.

LOVE the green! Excellent choice. Also love Mila… she was on That 70’s Show and is the voice of Meg on Family Guy. She’s co-starring in Black Swan now.

    Feel better!

i’m with gMarie about AJ’s dress – kind of matronly. allow the colour is FABULOUS!

  8. My momma loved that color: teal she called it and could pull it off, too! Me, I look a little sallow in it… oh well! We have no plans other than to meet friends for Mexican tonight for dinner… pay day you know?

I notice everybody had different electronic reading devices … you folks’ll have to let me know your thoughts on each of yours… one of these days I’m going to just GET one for myself! My bberry has a kindle app – but 2″ x 4″ is just too small for everyday reading with these soon to be 50-year-old, astigmatic, far-sighted eyes!

  9. I’m good with green, not so thrilled with the gown…isn’t it great we can all like different things? Weekend? What is that? I did scoot right over and check out the e-reader covers though, as Miss Kindle only has the sweater I made her…maybe she needs a new spring outfit?

WOW! Those gowns are beautiful and LOVE the color! Sorry to hear you’re sick, next time you’re able, go to a vitamin store and buy Sambucol. We’ve used it for years to boost, strengthen immune systems and Dave swears it reduces the length and severity of colds. I’ve never noticed the latter but am willing for it to happen -smile-.

  11. Sandra says:

    P. S. Forgot to mention, buying Sambucol over Amazon is less expensive than vitamin store. Nope, not a spokes woman for either, just saying…

  12. I love those shades of green and I could see you wearing that color!!!

my vera tote came, its huge, will have to post about it next week

Feel better and have a restful weekend!!

I’m so sorry you’re sick. : ( I feel like I’ve been trying to come down with something for the past 48 hours. I refuse. I’ve had my fill this year. lol

I noticed all the green dresses, too. Although, my favorite was Catherine Zeta Jones’. I like me a poofy dress. ; )

  14. AlisonH says:

One can hope that those dresses will help inspire green to come back as an officially fashionable color–it’s very hard to find much in the way of green yarns, and not in the blue-y greens I like, no grayishness. Here’s hoping!

E reader cover is so darling…..
get better. Colds are such a waste and a drag. I had one for 3 darn weeks from Thanksgiving to Christmas.. oh that is more than 3 weeks, no wonder it felt like forever

Have you found a dress yet? And are you finally rid of that cold? I’m feeling almost human after a few days of meds.
