Easter at the Beach

Monster tulips at cousin's house

Sigh.  No, we didn’t head to the Outer Banks for the weekend, but we still got to see water and something that passes for a beach.  See, my cousin has a new home in Colonial Beach, and that’s where we did Easter dinner.

Now, Colonial Beach isn’t new to me, but I confess that I’ve never had time to be a tourist there before yesterday.  Yesterday’s little drive made me very curious!  Alexander Graham Bell maintained a vacation home there and the Bell House is now a bed & breakfast.   The house has quite a history, having been built by the son of the Civil War General Ambrose.

The town of Colonial Beach even has a little fire boat after the big marina fire.   It is the first fire boat I’ve seen in person.  Yeah, that is the wee police boat to its left, and there was a State Police boat elsewhere in the marina too.  I suspect before long, those boats will be in the water!

Did you do anything special for Easter?

Oh – and be sure to visit the girls’ blog for a fun Easter photo.

We saw water, but it was on the porch and in the driveway. It’s been raining for days complete with thunder and lightening. Poor Morgan is terribly upset.

It sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday! We spent the afternoon with Nathan’s family 🙂

Nothing special this Easter. Didn’t even make dinner. A couple of kids came over for breakfast.

We have fire boats in our neck of the woods…I pass one every morning on the way to work, but you expect fire boats when your county is a peninsula surrounded by the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay.

Hmm – my weekend – finally got my brows taken care of and rushed to Costco with the masses. Then it was nice enough to sit in the sun knitting. Sunday was rainy – did a whole lot of nuttin! 🙂

It was perfect. Sounds like yours was too. g

Beautiful pics! We had a VERY lazy at home Easter Sunday… and I’m not complaining! 🙂

We got a tsunami rathern than a fire over at Santa Cruz. A rising tide lifted all boats.

(Meaning a month or so ago.)

You had sunshine! We are so jealous! Like Sue, the only water we saw was coming out of the sky. But the girls came home and it was nice.

  9. I longed for the beach, but it was not to be! We had a very quiet weekend around here. Not that that was all bad….

THe bunny brought this working the holiday girl a nice basket. It has chocolatey goodness, jelly beans, fake eyelashes as a result of a conversation Fireman and I jokingly had last week, canoe notepaper and CUB earrings. I made out like a bandit!

We had a little breakfast with Al on Saturday. Yummy quiche and breads.
