All a’quiver

Just a quick note to assure everyone we’re okay.  We are very near the epicenter for that mid-Atlantic ‘quake.  I do realize 6.0 isn’t much for my Cali-friends, but it was quite an experience for us.

It’ll be another hour before I can confirm the fur-girls are just fine, but there’s so little damage that I have no reason to rush home.  Until further notice, no news is good news.

Glad to hear that all is well. When things start shaking and rolling, it makes me anxious.

I thought Thor was kicking my chair. My beloved thought I was kicking the table. The little boys each thought the other was shaking the sofa. It;s really weird to have a solid masonry house shake, when the floors don’t even shake when someone walks across them here. I’ve never felt an earthquake on the east coast, so it was weird. I’m glad you’re OK; I wondered about that when Ryan discovered that the epicenter was in Louisa County.

Mom and I each thought it was Khyra wedging against our chairs – then we looked and NO Khyra – I was at one end of the house, Mom at the other, with Khyra in between us!

    Pretty bizarre day –

Hope all is WELL when you get home!

    Glad to know you’re okay!

Dummy me, I was asleep because I worked last night. I thought that I was dreaming, rolled back over, and went back to sleep. I remember thinking, no, it can’t be an earthquake.

I was wondering if you felt that shaker. Glad to hear all is well ~ BTW a 6.0 is a significant jolt even for us in California – LOL

Well, that was exciting, wasn’t it? Other than thinking my office ceiling was going to come down on me, I fared okay. Luckily, I also got out of DC before gridlock set in. Home had some minor chimney damage…all the drawers came open in kitchen and my desk, some doors closed, some stuff fell off the walls, and items tipped over on most surfaces. Had some interesting catches of items when opening cupboards, but all in all, not bad.

I’d told hubster not too long ago that I thought the faults were getting more active on this side of the country. You have no idea how much I want to go back to school to be a seismologist! /sigh/ I guess I’ll stick to the net and NatGeo, since they’re a lot cheaper than college tuition. lol
