Preparing for Thanksgiving

October 2011 007
Doesn’t Sis appear to have bowed her head in prayer?

Tomorrow’s a busy day for most of us here in the States, so I wanted to get our Thanksgiving wishes out early.  Of course… as usual… the fur-girls are ahead of the game and have their wishes up already!

Today’s actually the end of the work week for a lot of folks, and tomorrow is kinda’ the queen of Thankful Thursdays, so short of a doggy photo, this post is focusing on the THANKS part.

I’m the first to admit I lead a charmed life.  Most of us have our ups and downs, our trials and tribulations, but I truly feel blessed.   We’ve overcome several health challenges, and we continue to battle Sissy’s glaucoma and food allergies daily, but at the moment the sun is shining and life is good.  We don’t take it for granted though…

We give thanks for the lack of want in our lives.

We give thanks for the friends and relations who laugh and cry with us.

We give thanks for our health.

We give thanks for our freedom.

We give thanks for our military folks and their loved ones who continue to secure that freedom with blood, sweat and tears both here and abroad.

We give thanks for the love and light our pets bring to our lives.

We give thanks for being born in a nation where we are free to bow our heads in prayer – or not…

We give thanks for all who volunteer their time, talents or treasure to make this world a better place.

And most of all, we give thanks for all the love in our lives.

We’ll be celebrating quietly with friends.  How do you honor the day?

That is a really cute picture of Sissy! And what a beautiful post 🙂 We are also celebrating Thanksgiving with friends this year, and getting together with family for portraits on Friday.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Chan, your Thanks brought a tear to my eye.
i will be celebrating with a small group of friends. All of our husbands are deployed, so we will mark the day together. Then, after eating, i will come home and snuggle with my two best dogs on the couch, and watch some movies, and think about how thankful I am that i am married to a selfless man. Yesterday i was reading an article on a speech given by a local retired Colonel on Veterans Day. COL Plummer commented that 1% of our population serves in the Armed Forces, and it brings new meaning to Winston Churchill’s phrase “Never was so much owed by so many to so few”.
I am forever thankful to our soldiers, and their selfless service.

We’re having a quiet day at home, thankful that the pack is all together despite some health problems.

Beautiful post! Sissy does appear to be praying (for a stray turkey leg falling into her space?) and is so sweet! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. We are off to share the day with family and extended family, which includes a new baby. Can’t wait! Of course our fur babies will share in the festivities. They get so excited over a holiday and/or family gathering. We are so thankful for the joy they bring to us!

We go to my dad’s for Thanksgiving. We have a great day of food and football. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

  9. We’ll be at home, hosting another couple with no family nearby and also the pastor’s mother and brother…I’m thankful that although my boys are all far away they are fine and healthy. I’m thankful that although Airman Jeremy is deployed, he is in a safe place. And…I’m thankful for many of the other things you posted, too. This year has been a very tough one for us, and I am extremely thankful for my friends (including you) who have helped me walk through this time.
