The Cancer Thief

Like many of you, I have a host of blogs in my reader.  One of those is Javamom, whom I discovered somehow after one of the Junior League conferences last year.   While I don’t know her friend, I do know that cancer is a thief and it steals from all of us.

My Hooey Hound, taken too soon by the Cancer Thief

I won’t bore you with a laundry list of those the cancer thief has robbed me – and the world – of.  I will tell you that right now, I am still in awe of “Hope” and all that innocent, strong, brave, beautiful child gave those of us who knew of her.  And two women my age with happy young families were blindsided by cancers within in the past year.  (We’re talking no history, hit all of the proper milestones for routine testing, etc.)

So here’s a link, so you too can be inspired, supportive… whatever you feel called to do.  Surely if we keep promoting awareness and routine testing according to your medical history, we can indeed “arrest” the Cancer Thief.

Oh what a sweet, sweet photo of Fred. Dudley would lay like that all the time and now Doodle Bug does too.

Fingers cross on an arrest soon. g

I’ve lost friends – both human and furry – to cancer and I couldn’t agree more. It is a thief, and the worst kind.

Ohh, so sorry about your sweet, sweet doggie. I lost my beloved Woofie dog to cancer 6 years ago. This is a great post to remind us that cancer robs us of our furry loved ones as well! I’ve lost many pets to cancer. Thanks for the link back to my blog.

It certainly is a thief that robs Life. Here’s hoping for a cure and soon.

The Cancer Thief has hit my family several times. I’ve joined the fight to stop it in its tracks.

Cancer has touched the lives of so many of us in such tragic ways. I always feel that I owe it to them to closely monitor mine and my family’s health and fight cancer in every way possible.

I’m so sorry you lost your sweet fur friend. I also lost my first JRT (Timmy) to cancer.

Do you read Kim’s blog Life At Golden Pines? She lives in Virginia, too and rescues Golden Retrievers. Last year she lost either six or seven of them, mostly to cancer. I don’t know how she does it, but she took in another last week.

Cancer has touched our family, though maybe not as often as some and of course I’ve lost several fur kids. Monty is the one that still bothers me most. How could I have missed that something so terrible was going on?

  8. Cancer has stolen my fur baby and too many of my loved ones.

  9. Nichole says:

Great post… and I’ll say what she didn’t want her kids to read, CANCER SUCKS. :/
