Words to live by

I’ve kept quote books in the past, and now I have a “wisdom” folder on Pintrest.  Here are some words that have touched me in the past few hours:

I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it on A Year from Oak Cottage, but she found it here.   The colors are on trend and really speak to my personal preferences, but long-time readers might remember that Sissy’s registered name is (in part) Princess of Joy, because she brought joy to a rather dark time in our lives and has made sure we NEVER forget to find the joy in each and every day.

Here’s another quote I found on Facebook, shared by a nearly life-long friend whose life is a testament to all that he believes in.

“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.” ~Margaret Mead

My respect for Queen Elizabeth is also growing as I learn more about her through the Diamond Jubilee coverage.  Talk about a life of service!  What’s inspiring you today?

The creations of God. (I still squirted those two squirrels who were trying to do a little creating of their own while there were four more on the porch this morning. Two browsing around is the limit around the birdfeeder, guys.)

  2. Katherine says:

I live by the saying: There is a way you can judge whether the thoughts you are thinking and the things you are doing are right for you: Have they brought you inner peace?

While my life may be a search for inner peace I must agree with AlisonH–keep on squirting those squirrels Alison. I’m out here killing snakes that slither into my yard and that gives me loads of inner peace!!

My favorite quote: “What you are when no one is looking is what you truly are.”

I found a book of quotes on my trip in a Holiday Inn Express lobby library. I plan to share some of them on my blog one of these days. ;oD

    I’m hiding from Pininterest.

I have always liked this one, ” Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty”. I aspire to act without thought for my own ego. Not always easy.

Today Miss Morgan’s courage is my inspiration. I read several posts about dogs who screamed in pain when they tore their ACL. Morgan never uttered a sound, just limped along in terrible pain.

I’m having a wonderful time admiring everyone’s “Quote” boards on Pinterest. I must say Channon, it’s uncanny the way you’ve pinned some of my thoughts. Let’s see, I’m in an Imitation is the highest form of flattery” kind of mood today:)

    Thanks for sharing…

“Never, never, never give up.” quoted by Winston Churchill during WWII.

As for inspiration, I was reminded of the quote when I happened to catch the live stream feed of the Queen standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the exact moment of the flyover of the Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfires (WWII airplanes). Since I grew up in the postwar UK (to parents who met during the war, Brit mother, US father), it brought tears to my eyes remembering another Churchill quote related to those who flew those aircraft during the war: “‘Never in the course of human history has so much been owed by so many to so few.” Since I am also a lover of aircraft, I’ve seen all those planes in person, including the Red Arrows who flew over last trailing the red, white and blue smoke. Was a very emotional and inspirational moment for me.
