Memory on a Stick

Today, I was going to blog about my beautiful handspun FO.  Was.  Can’t, because when one takes photos without a memory card in the camera, there are no photos to upload and share.  Hem.

Pretty Chan yarn from Creatively Dyed I forgot to blog before...

The shame of it all is that despite all the flashing symbols, I didn’t realize what I’d done until I tried to download the photos onto my laptop.  (Download vs. upload… forgive me if my usage isn’t correct?!)  After searching my handbag and each pair of pants I wore last week, a second search of the bag – you know ladies, when you shove your hand to the bottom of the bag and just shake? – yielded the lost card.

I have always done things in “spells.”  There was the lock myself out of car and home spell in my early 20s.  Of late, I’ve left my cell phone in the charger or in a vehicle no fewer than a half-dozen times since New Years Eve.  I think I shall not allow myself to remove the memory card from my “good” camera for a while, and just upload (download?) photos at home until we can be sure this is no new phase in my scatterbrained life.

Chan, Ann (Marie) & Kelly yarns, hanging out together

No, I’m not REALLY scattered, but we all have our moments, don’t we?

Can one of you pop over to play?  I have “Apples on a stick just make me sick, make my heart go 2-46…” on the brain.  I just need someone to sit and play that clappy-hands game from my youth…

Also, at some point in the next 8 hours or so, I’ll update Sissy’s blog with the details of yesterday’s trip to wondervet.   I am also getting down to the wire on entering the girls in Mango Minister

Hope those of you off yesterday in the States are muddling through your little monday okay!

I made JB turn around and go back home one morning last week because I had left my phone plugged in. A little more important in my case because without it I’m walking the 2 miles home in the dark and rain wearing dark clothes!

But I’ve been known to do all of the above – except the memory stick. Because I never take the memory card out of our computer. I use the cable between the camera and the laptop. Works like a charm and the only thing to lose is the cable – and trust me, it’s been done!!

Well – I wanna see the finished object! Darn it. Did you rav it so I can at least find out what you made from it? g

Yesterday we had a major hunt for Rob’s cell phone. He had people in two offices, a restaurant and me here at home all looking for it. Where did we find it? In the charger in the car.

I entered Tsar in the Cat group and Fudge in the Poor Sports group for MangoMinster.

I’m eager to hear about the trip to the vet.

  3. Ahem. I sooo understand. I took our Japanese Exchange student to Muir Woods soon after his arrival. Took lots of lovely photos….all with no card in the camera! Now, I follow this rule, and it usually works: if the little black space filler is on the table, it means the card (from the camera) is in the computer. The card is not allowed to be anywhere except in the camera, or in the computer! Ever….

oops, I just hate it when that happens! 🙂 Did I tell you about the time I locked myself out of the house with Jazzy in there, dinner on the stove cooking?! Needless to say, I broke in the back door! GAH And I haven’t locked myself out of the house since then either. :/

    Pretty yarns!

I hate it when I do that! Although, my little point and shoot just died on me, so the iPhone camera is getting quite a workout.

Love the yarns! Very, very pretty.

If it is any consolation, I’ve done worse. Twice now we have left for a long road trip only to discover (within minutes of the house thankfully) that I have left my purse (debit card!) at home. It hasn’t struck Bob yet that I’ve never left my knitting at home!

You have great taste and looks like 3 friends hanging together. What are you going to make with it?

I’ll be over as soon as possible. Can we do “say say of playmate, come out and play with me….” too???

I have strict orders from my son. Don’t play with memory cards. And, to be quite honest, I’ve been turning things upside down around here in search of a sock. Well, not your average sock. This is a special purse sock my aunt made for me many moons ago. It is a regular sock with a purse clip sewed on. If I could find it, I would try to upload it. Or is that download? Anyway, it’s a money sock. Not only do I not know where I hid it, I can’t remember whether I have any money in it!!!

I think I need to come over to play!!!

Cameras can be so picky sometimes. Someone should invent a camera with two memory cards in it, so when you take one out, there is a backup card still in it. Hey, did I just invent something? 🙂

  13. Sandy says:

That NEVER happens to me. Ahem. No, never.

    Do you believe me???

I have 4 memory cards for my camera. Mine also has internal memory, so if I take a picture without the card, I can then move them to the card, and from there to the computer…and I have done so.

Thor is in the Hard Working Group at Mango Minster, as is a Mastiff from Belgium named El’bow. I like Mango and his brother the Labradude; they’re pretty funny guys! Of course you should enter the girls. Wait, does Gretchen qualify as an insane terrier?
